To receive your Mii, you must first have your Wii connected to the Internet. Instructions for setting this up can be found in the user's manual, but if you'd rather surf the web, here's a site with nicely detailed instructions. Once you have your Wii connected to the outside world, our Wii's need permission to talk. It's an easy process which won't take more than 5 minutes, and we'll show you how with screenshots below. (Yes, these screenshots were taken from a Japanese Wii, but the interface is exactly the same so simply follow our English instructions.)
(1) From the main menu screen, click the little envelope button in the lower right.
(2) This is where you'll communicate with MiiStation to receive your Mii, so remember this step. In this screenshot we have no message, but that will change soon! In the lower left you'll see two buttons. Click the pencil-and-paper button.
(3) Here we have the option of (from left to right) jotting a memo, writing a message, and viewing the address book. We'll want to edit the address book, so click it.
(4) Here's where you'll add our Wii ID to your address book. When registering a friend, they can be another Wii or even a regular email address. Click the "Register" button in the lower right to choose which one to add.
(5) We will be sending your Mii from our Wii, so click the left Wii image.
(6) Nintendo could have merged the next two steps into one, but alas. Here it asks for the Wii ID you want to register. Click the input box to proceed to a number pad where you'll click-in each number.
(7) And here we are. Enter the Wii ID you receive via email after we have confirmed your purchase. When you click 'OK', our Wii will receive a request to connect. When we accept this connection, we will ask that you send - through your Wii - the email you entered when you uploaded your photo. Then we can send you your Mii. Be sure to check your Wii inbox (step 2) for your Mii!
